A Reconfiguration Algorithm for Distributed Computer Networks
This article presents an algorithmic reconfiguration model, combining mechanisms of load balancing and fault tolerance in order to increase utilization of computer resources in a distributed multi-server, multitasking environment. The model has been empirically tested in a network of computers controlling telecommunication hubs and is compared to previous efforts to address this challenge.
متن کاملReconfiguration Mechanism for Holonic Manufacturing Systems
Although holonic manufacturing systems (HMS) have been recognized as a paradigm to cope with changes in manufacturing environment based on a flexible architecture, several characteristics of HMS such as re-configurability have not been characterized quantitatively. To realize these advantages, more concrete mechanisms or methodologies need to be developed. The objectives of this paper are to pr...
متن کاملPlanning for change: a reconfiguration language for distributed systems
In order to help programmers achieve greater leverage of emerging reconnguration mechanisms, we are studying notations for users to express reconnguration plans. These plans direct how a running distributed application would be changed, based upon recognition of events from either the application itself or its environment. Our work to date in this area is embodied in a simple system called Clip...
متن کاملA Component Framework for Dynamic Reconfiguration of Distributed Systems
The growing popularity of wired and wireless Internet requires distributed systems to be more flexible, adaptive and easily extendable. Dynamic reconfiguration of distributed component-based systems is one possible solution to meet these demands. However, current component frameworks that support dynamic reconfiguration either place the burden of preparing a component for reconfiguration comple...
متن کاملA Framework for Reconfiguration-Based Fault-Tolerance in Distributed Systems
Nowadays, many critical services are provided by complex distributed systems which are the result of the reuse and integration of a large number of components. Given their multi-context nature, these components are, in general, not designed to achieve high dependability by themselves, thus their behavior with respect to faults can be the most disparate. Nevertheless, it is paramount for these k...
